The Pantheon was built in Rome, Italy in 27 B.C., rebuilt on 110 and 120-24 A.D. The point of this circular dome temple is to worship the roman gods like the Mars and Venus. It is known for the world largest unsupported concrete and brick dome, which is still standing now. The architecture of the Pantheon is amazing, it is built with thick brick walls and marble or granite columns. The entrance is a big giant bronze door, on top of the dome there is a hole or the oculus which represents the heaven. Some pieces were traveled all the way from Egypt.

In Greek the Pantheon means “all of the gods”, it was to worship gods and see heaven through the oculus. People believe that when it rains and go through the oculus it wouldn’t touch the marble ground, but it would. Agrippa built the first one, burnt, then Domitian built the second, burnt, finally Hadrian built the third. He did give credit to Agrippa by writing a note next to the Pantheon. Some parts of the Pantheon are still not completed. And now the still standing Pantheon is a church given to Pope Boniface the VII. It was also a tomb for important people like Italian kings. The great temple of Pantheon inspired many artists in the Renaissance period.

The infamy of the Pantheon is do to the skill and hard work put into it. People enjoy the Pantheon because it’s a beautiful building, which has lasted almost two thousand years. This building show the inside looks on the grandeur of the Roman Empire. The Pantheons dimensions are the columns are 39 ft. tall. The entire portico is 46 ft. tall. The height of the dome is 142 ft. The diameter is also 142 ft. The oculus is 25 feet wide. These dimensions show the size and stability of the Pantheon. The importance of this building also affects its history.

The history of the Pantheon isn't all in its architecture. The Pantheon has Corinthian and classical styles of architecture (both popular in Rome). The Pantheon is especially famous for its dome, which was the biggest of its time. One can't forget the oculus at the top of the dome, which lets light to enter. At the entrance to the Pantheon you see “M.AGRIPPA.L.F.COSTERIUM.FECIT” it means ''Marcus Agrippa son of Lucius having been consol three times made it." Marcus Agrippa’s original Pantheon burnt down and Hadrian built the Pantheon we know today. The reason we see this engraving is because Hadrian re-used it as a pediment.

The pantheon is one of the most beautiful structures in the world. It has amazed generations with its iconic symbols of prosper. It is a symbol of roman strength and perseverance. This is a building that has lasted the test of time. The men who built this building had no idea of knowing how long it would stand. The thing that we forget about the pantheon is that it is a building that embodies the fact that if people get together, work hard anything can become of it. That’s why the pantheon is a building that not only shows the strength of an empire, but the strength of a people.
